The Bellefontaine Intermediate School Bacon Bots robotics team have earned a spot at the state robotics tournament Friday, March 1, in Marion, following their performance at a recent tournament.
The fifth-grade Robotics team competed in the final regular season tournament, the Pioneer Winter VEXiq Classic in Elyria Saturday, Feb. 24.
Members Griffin Burkhardt, Garrett Gossard, Matthew Torsell, Camden Vollrath and Jerome Wickham all worked together to score their best scores in their driving challenges and autonomous challenges.
They earned the Energy Award for being recognized as the team displaying the most enthusiasm and passion for robotics and enhancing the experience for all involved.
Their skills scores from the event placed them in 32nd place in the Ohio state rankings. Their ranking helped them to be invited to compete in the state tournament.
