West Liberty-Salem’s girls cross country team continues to prove why it is one of the best teams in the state.
The Big Orange girls won a very competitive 21-team field at the Anna Rocket Invitational on Saturday and placed all seven of its scoring runners in the top 50 out of 214 runners.
The Tigers, who are ranked fourth in the Division III state poll, took first with 57 points. McAuley came in second with 80 points and Lakota West was third with 133 points. Indian Lake finished 19th with 489 points and Benjamin Logan was 21st with 520 points.
“The times aren’t indicative of the outstanding team effort put forth,” said WL-Salem girls head coach Ann Vogel. “The girls responded well to the wet course conditions and really battled throughout the race. It’s nice to have this kind of momentum going into the postseason.”
