West Liberty-Salem’s softball team jumped on Milton-Union early and then held off the Bulldogs the rest of the way to advance in Division III tournament action Monday at at Northmont High School.

The Tigers piled up six runs in the bottom of the first inning and went on to take a 9-5 victory in a Division III sectional final.
WL-Salem, ranked eighth in the latest state coaches poll, improves to 20-2.
The Tigers face Middletown Madison in the district final round either Friday or Saturday. The date, time and site had yet to be announced at press time.
“We have really worked hard on being aggressive at the plate and having quality at bats,” said WL-Salem head coach Kenleigh Farris. “It was great to see the girls come out and hit the ball the way they did, especially in that first inning.”
