Bellefontaine High School’s Pride of the Tribe marching band earned a “superior” rating Saturday at the Tecumseh Band Contest, qualifying the group to march in the Ohio Music Education Association’s State Marching Band Finals at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the University of Dayton’s Welcome Stadium.
The band’s 2017 show is titled, “A Skyful of Stars,” and features the music of David Bowie and Leonard Cohen.
“It was a beautiful performance on a beautiful evening,” band co-director Jeremy Karg said. “The students did a spectacular job with their music and marching and they certainly deserved the rating. It was our best performance to date by far.
“We’re hopeful for a “superior” rating at state contest this coming Sunday. If we can achieve this goal, it would be the first back-to-back superior rating at the state marching contest in school history.”
The band also is directed by Meagan Antram-Young, with assistance from Andrew Roberts, color instructor, and Andrew Cress, percussion adviser.
