SARAH BECHTEL |
Sarah Bechtel, a former track and field standout at Bellefontaine and then Ohio Wesleyan University, has returned to OWU as an assistant coach.
Bechtel is assisting the cross country and track and field programs for the Battling Bishops. She spent the 2015 season as an assistant coach at Ursuline College, coaching jumps and assisting with sprints and hurdles.
A 2014 OWU graduate, Bechtel won All-America honors in the pole vault in 2013 and qualified for the NCAA Division III championship meet four times. She won seven North Coast Athletic Conference championships in the pole vault and also captured all-conference honors in the 100-meter hurdles.
Bechtel was the first female athlete in NCAC history to win four straight conference titles in the pole vault and set the conference record in the event by clearing 11-7 3/4 at the 2014 indoor championship meet. She holds both the indoor and outdoor pole vault records for OWU.
