A trio of new administrators are expected to be recommended for board approval at the Monday, Aug. 17, board meeting.
The Benjamin Logan Schools Board of Education announced Friday it has named Dr. Brian Powderly the new Benjamin Logan High School principal effective for the 2020-21 school year.
Dr. Powderly has most recently served for two years as an administrator at Sidney City Schools and five years as high school principal at Monroe Local Schools in Monroe. Prior to that, he was the high school principal at Milton-Union High School for eight years. Brian, his wife, and two daughters live in the Dayton area.
He began working July 28 and will be working closely with Mark Butler in the transition through Aug. 31.
Jeff Amspoker joins Benjamin Logan High School as the new assistant principal. Mr. Amspoker has been a Spanish teacher for 14 years at Elida and one year at Paulding. His wife, Amy, is a biology teacher at Elida. Their daughter is 13 and their son is 10.
He is from Plain City, where he graduated from Fairbanks High school. Mr. Amspoker is excited to be starting his administrative career with the Benjamin Logan School District and he is ready to get to work with the staff and students, the district related.
Mrs. Holly Barr, the new assistant principal at Benjamin Logan Middle School, will start her daily schedule at BLMS Tuesday, Aug. 4.
“It is with great pride that I say, I am excited to become a Raider! Benjamin Logan is an excellent school system which is continuing to make great strides serving their students and community. Becoming part of that team is something I am truly looking forward to,” she said.
Growing up, Mrs. Barr attended and graduated from Anna Local Schools. Following graduation, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Elementary Education from The Ohio State University. Bellefontaine City Schools and Fairlawn Local Schools are where she spent the first five years of her career, teaching fifth-grade reading and language arts. The most recent 13 years of teaching have been for Sidney City Schools in first-, third-, fourth- and fifth-grades.
Recently, she graduated with a Master of Educational Leadership from Concordia University in Chicago that enables her to become an administrator for grades preK-12. Mrs. Barr lives between Sidney and Anna with her two children. Noah will be a senior at Anna and Cassidy will be a freshman. They also have a Morkie, a Miniature Goldendoodle, and two cats that share their home.
