Benjamin Logan’s boys track and field team started the season off with a bang Friday by winning the London Red Raider Relays in commanding fashion.
The Raider boys won five events and beat the second-place team by 30 points, while the Raider girls took the second-place spot Friday.
Ben Logan’s boys squad claimed the top spot out of 11 teams with 97 points, Hamilton Township edged Bexley 67-65 for the runner-up spot and London was fourth with 64.5 points.
Bexley won the girls meet with 82 points, Ben Logan took second with 79 points and Hamilton Township was third with 64 points.
“I thought our guys did a very good job of competing,” said Ben Logan boys head coach Kevin Butler. “The weather conditions were not great so I told them I wasn’t to worried about running a specific time, but more with how they competed.
“I thought they did a great job of responding to that challenge. Individually, I thought our seniors, Cameron Johnson, Wyatt Warren, Aaron Crosby, Jarret Matthews and Derek Weiser had a very good night. They competed hard and were leading by example. This was a solid start to our season and I’m looking forward to watching them compete again this week.”
