Bellefontaine’s wrestling team wrapped up the regular season by going 2-0 in a super tri-meet Thursday with host Xenia, Fairborn and Springfield Shawnee.
The Chieftains handled Fairborn 57-10 in their first dual and then held on to beat Xenia 42-40 in the second dual.
“It was a solid night for us and a good way to end the regular season,” said BHS head coach Aaron LaBatt. “Xenia and Fairborn are both Division I teams so it was a little preview of what we will see at the sectional next week.”
Finishing 2-0 with two pins were Bryan Ward (120) and Lance Houchin (152). Also going 2-0 were Gaige Reeves (106), Zach Yoesting (113), Trey Henderson (138) and Phil Francis (145).
Posting 1-1 efforts were Dylan Christman (132), Dawson Miller (160), Boris Pattison (170) and Bruno Pattison (220) with Braden Jacobs (285) going 1-0.
Christman also won two exhibition bouts by pin.
“Bryan and Lance looked sharp with some solid wins,” said LaBatt. “Zach Yoesting also had a nice win in his first match and showed he is progressing. Dylan had a nice night, too, and got some extra matches in. He was ready to wrestle.”
Bellefontaine is back in action Friday, Feb. 19 and Saturday Feb. 20 at the Division I sectional tournament in Centerville.
