The Bellefontaine Board of Education handled a few key personnel issues during a special meeting at the board office Thursday morning, Feb. 22.
Cliff Core was hired to succeed Jason Brown as the Bellefontaine High School principal, effective Aug. 1.
Core has been the BHS assistant principal for the last five years.
The board accepted three resignations.
Brown resigned as the high school principal, effective July 19.
Mark Butler resigned as the Chieftain Pride Lab coordinator, effective May 28.
Eric Adelsberger resigned as an educational aide in the Chieftain Pride Lab, effective May 23.
Brown was then hired for two positions. He will replace Butler to lead the Chieftain Pride Lab. Brown will also return as the BHS head football coach.
In December, Brown resigned the football position and Aaron Peitsmeyer was named the new head football coach.
Peitsmeyer resigned earlier this month.
Brown was recently named the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association Region 9 Coach of the Year.
The region includes Logan, Champaign, Shelby, Hardin, Auglaize, Allen, Darke, Miami, Mercer and Van Wert counties.
The 2023 Chiefs were the first team in school history to win three playoff games in the same season. Bellefontaine advanced to the Division III regional final in November.
BCS will start its search for a new high school assistant principal.
The next board meeting is 6:30 p.m. March 11 in the Bellefontaine Middle School Library.
