Barbara Ann Powell, 79, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday morning, July 1, 2017, at Campbell Place.
Barb was always the life of the party. Having thrown her last celebration and checking off the last of her “to do” list, there was nothing left to do but go home.
Barb was born in Bellefontaine on Jan. 4, 1938, to the late Huston Lincoln “Dutch” and Donna Mae Hurley Goldschmidt. She married Max E. Powell on June 16, 1957, in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2008. Barb was also preceded in death by her brother, Bob Goldsmith.
Barb was a Girl Scout as a child and as an adult, helped troops for 20-plus years. She was a member of the Ohio Order of Eastern Star, United Methodist Women, Kings Daughter’s, Rebekah’s, and was active in many church activities throughout her life as a wife of a veteran and minister. She was a member Bellefontaine First United Methodist Church. Barb also enjoyed playing bridge and was active at the Logan County Friendly Senior Center.
Barb is survived by her daughters, Teri (Doug) Roberts of Hilliard, Tami (Rick) Allison of Killbuck, Robyn (Bill) Gruber of New Carlisle and Kari (Matt) Halko of Brunswick Hills; 10 grandchildren, Brian Roberts, Brad Roberts, Ben Allison, Abbie Allison, Bethany (Joe) Latham, Billy Gruber, Kellie Gruber, Jerrod Gruber, Ryan Halko and Adam Halko; two great-grandchildren, Mason Parrett and Marick Latham; a brother-in-law, Bart (Jami) Powell of Albany, Ind.; and a niece, Hannah Powell.
A celebration of Barb’s life begins at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at the Bellefontaine First United Methodist Church, 201 N. Main St., with Pastor Ben Shaeffer officiating.
