Barbara Ann Burton, 85, of Huntsville, OH, passed away Monday Morning, October 28, 2019 at Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty.
Barbara was born on May 22, 1934 in Bellefontaine, OH a daughter of the late Virgil and Hazel Alexander Gearhardt. She married Paul L. Burton on June 27, 1953 and he preceded her in death on December 1, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Beth Carpenter and son-in-law, Bud Watkins.
Barbara is survived by six children, Michael D. Burton of Seattle, WA, Phillip “Tom” (Tammy) Burton, Kathy Watkins, and Ronald W. (Valerie) Burton, all of Bellefontaine, Donald L. (Camille) Burton of Huntsville, and Alan (Kerri) Burton of Las Vegas, NV, 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, two brothers, David West of Florida, and Tom Gearhardt of California, and a step sister, Joan McCollough of Florida.
Barbara was a 1953 graduate of Washington Local School. She worked at Indian Lake Schools and later was lead cook at Head Start in Bellefontaine. She was a member of Indian Lake Community Church and First Christian Church. Barbara was an active member of Order of Eastern Star Bellefontaine Chapter #459 and formerly held several local and statewide positions. She was also a member of Auxiliary Guild of Mary Rutan Hospital. Barbara enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, playing the organ, working with ceramics, cooking and baking. Her favorite time of year was Christmas and decorating for the holiday. She loved spending time with family and supporting her grandchildren.
Reverend Jim Ellington will conduct graveside services at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 1, 2019 at Huntsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her name to Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty, Ohio.
