G. Bruce Norris of Rushsylvania recently was installed as the Mended Hearts’ Central District regional director and also as a national board member during the organization’s national conference at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tenn.

The Central District includes the states of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Mr. Norris has served as the assistant regional director for the region the past six years and is a member of the member of the “Top of Ohio” Mended Hearts chapter 69 of Bellefontaine
Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Mended Hearts Inc. and is the largest peer-to-peer heart patient support group in the world, serving more than 460 hospitals, including Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
A featured speaker at the conference was Dr. Alden H. Harken, whose father, the late Dr. Dwight Harken, was founder of the Mended Hearts organization in 1952.
Dr. Harken is professor and chair of the University of California San Francisco, East Bay Department of Surgery in Oakland, Calif.
