The Bellefontaine Memorial Day parade will be a little more lively this year with the addition of full ensemble of Shriners from throughout western Ohio.
“All of our parade units have been directed to be here; so I hope to have as many as 150 to 200 people on the streets,” Bellefontaine resident Bret Stahler, who is potentate of the Antioch Shrine that encompasses 14 counties and some 1,900 members in west central Ohio.
Logan County’s own band of clowns, the Antioch Funsters, will lead off the Shriners portion of the parade, which will trail the traditional Memorial Day procession.
“Being head of the Shrine and this being my hometown I wanted this to be our first parade,” Stahler said. “I come from the clown unit, but now that I’m potentate and am in charge of organizing a parade, I have chosen to put them up front.”
