Former Logan County resident Anita Smith Spencer, 61, of California, went home with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, after battling lung and tongue cancer for three months.
An Ohio native who grew up in Middleburg, she was born July 30, 1954, and lived in Hemet, Calif., the last 10 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mazie Smith of Middleburg; an infant son, Joey; her grandparents, and several aunts and uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; two daughters, Amy Smith of Maine and Denise Bartsch of California; brothers Roy “R.J.” (Diane) Smith of rural Urbana and Gary (Sandy) Smith of Bellefontaine; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pastor Shelley Stephenson leads a memorial service at 1 p.m. Feb. 13, at Christ Covenant Church, 400 Ludlow Road, Bellefontaine, followed by a potluck dinner at the home of Roy and Diane Smith, 412 N. U.S. Route 68, Urbana.
