An Indian Lake squad en route to Mary Rutan Hospital Saturday evening rear-ended a vehicle on U.S. Route 33 at State Route 720.

Amanda Salyers, of Russells Point, was eastbound on U.S. 33 about 7:03 p.m. attempting a right turn onto S.R. 720 when her 2001 Chevrolet Suburban was struck in the rear by the ambulance, officers of the Russells Point Police Department report. The impact sent the Suburban off the road.
Two juveniles in the Salyers vehicle, which had eight total occupants, were transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Paramedic Mark Miller and a patient traveling in the ambulance were transferred to another ambulance and taken to MRH.
The ambulance’s driver, Deborah Hamilton, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
The ambulance’s lights and sirens were not activated at the time of the crash as it was engaged in a non-emergency transport.
BMRT, Huntsville EMS, Indian Lake EMS, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted at the scene.
