MARYSVILLE — Alcohol is suspected as a factor in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash that killed a 65-year-old Plain City manThursday night, troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
David L. Mitchell was pronounced dead at Riverside Methodist Hospital after the 9:38 p.m. crash on State Route 161 in Jerome Township.
He was westbound when his motorcycle crossed the center line and went off the left side of the road before striking a sewer drain and overturning. Mr. Mitchell was not wearing a helmet and troopers suspect alcohol as a factor.
He was taken from the scene by a Jerome Township squad to Dubline Methodist Hospital before being airlifted to Riverside, troopers report.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office and Pleasant Valley Fire Department assisted at the scene.
