West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team pulled away from visiting Graham in the fourth quarter Saturday for a 56-40 non-league victory.
The Tigers boost their record to 6-2 overall, while the Falcons fall to 3-7.
“After an 11-day layoff, it was good to play again,” said WL-Salem head coach Darrin Leichty. “Our effort in the first half was OK, but we had some rust to knock off.
“I was proud of how our guys played defense in the second half. We didn’t give up any threes in the last 15 minutes of the game, so that was good to see.”
WL-Salem started with a 13-11 lead after the first quarter, but Graham battled back to outscore the Tigers 15-12 in the second quarter. That allowed the Falcons to carry a 26-25 edge into halftime.
