ADA — The Ada Police Department is investigating a homicide which took place early Monday as the result of a knife fight.
In a press release from Ada Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger, he said officers were called to an incident at about 12:15 a.m. today at 345 W. Montford Ave., concerning a disturbance “involving a knife.”
When the officers arrived, they found a middle-aged male, later identified as Rodney A. Slechter, 49, of Lima, had been stabbed by another male who was inside the house trailer. Slechter died at the scene. The name of the assailant has not being released at this time.
“Officers rendered first aid to the victim of the stabbing who succumbed to his wound at that location,” Harnishfeger said. “The other male was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained during an altercation between the two.”
At this point, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification has been called to assist the Ada Police Department in processing the scene along with the coroner’s investigator.
“No one has been arrested or charged pending the outcome of our investigation,” the chief said.
