Ada “Granny” J. Bowermaster, 79, of McGuffey, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Jan. 25, 1937, in Urbana, a daughter of the late Howard and Thelma Hodges Decker.
On May 31, 1978, she married Willis Bowermaster and he passed away Dec. 26, 2008. She also was preceded in death by her son, Harry “Rick” Swank; brother, Lloyd Decker; and sister, Jane Lease.
Ada is survived by her children, Beverly Jackson of McGuffey, Helen Neeley of Kenton and Keith Swank Sr. of Bellefontaine; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Ethel Puckett of Ada, Robert Bowermaster of Dunkirk and Ralph (Cathey) Bowermaster of Texas; several stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Helen Taylor of Urbana, Ohio.
She worked at the former Rink’s in Bellefontaine and was a homemaker most of her lifetime.
The family will have a public visitation and a private graveside memorial service at a later date. She will be buried in the Raymond Cemetery with her father.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or the charities of the donors’ choices.
