On the heels of a prom-related fatal accident in Monroe just days ago, Indian Lake High School students received a stark reminder to make driving safely their top priority this prom and graduation season.
The ILHS Students Against Destructive Decisions club members acted out a mock accident for the entire student body in the parking lot just outside the auditorium Wednesday afternoon, prior to the school’s prom slated for Saturday evening.
In the staged scenario, senior MaryAnn Wahl played a character who had consumed alcohol at a party and then operated a vehicle that ran a red light. As a result, her vehicle T-boned a car driven by junior Belle Elliott, with passenger senior Tatum Reprogle.
MaryAnn’s passenger, junior Logan Jakeway, was ejected from the car and his character died at the scene of the mock crash. Belle had minor injuries and was transported by ambulance.
Tatum’s character suffered severe brain trauma and was transported by CareFlight helicopter from the accident.
