Members of the Logan County Joint Drug Task Force arrested a Columbus man Monday evening during a traffic stop in downtown West Liberty related to an investigation alleging that he transports cocaine into Logan County to sell the drug.
Kandale L. Harrison, 41, was charged with possession of cocaine, having weapons under disability, receiving stolen property related to a stolen firearm, and was issued a warrant for trafficking cocaine, during the 6:30 p.m. traffic stop. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Joint Drug Task Force members had been investigating the defendant related to alleged cocaine trafficking activities in Logan County, and obtained the arrest warrant for him.
During the traffic stop, detectives found that Harrison had cocaine packaged three ways in his front pants pocket, along with $2,625 cash.
Inside the vehicle, detectives located a loaded 9-mm Ruger handgun in the glove box, along with an additional $3,600 cash.
The firearm was confirmed stolen out of Columbus.
Also inside the center console of the vehicle, a bag of cocaine and bag of marijuana were recovered, along with digital scales that contained cocaine residue. A total of four cell phones were seized. Harrison’s vehicle was towed to the impound lot.
Additional charges are possible for the defendant.
He previously was convicted of cocaine possession, along with felonious assault, in Logan County in 2014. He was released from prison in September 2017, and is currently on parole in Columbus.
A Logan County Sheriff’s deputy and an officer of the West Liberty Police Department assisted the Joint Task Force with the arrest.
