Officers of the Washington Township Police Department arrested a man for failure to stop following a short pursuit just before 9 p.m. Friday.
Patrolling officers observed a pickup truck operated by Tyler Lett, 20, of 7369 Edison St., Russells Point, in the area of Township Road 239 and State Route 720. Officers were aware the suspect had a suspended driver’s license, and attempted a traffic stop.
The driver reportedly failed to stop and continued westbound toward State Route 235.
The driver stopped at one point, according to reports, but then traveled back onto the roadway. He eventually came to a stop just east of S.R. 235.
The driver reached speeds in excess of 65 miles per hour through what is a 35 mph zone. When asked why he failed to stop, the driver reportedly claimed to have been talking to his girlfriend.
He was charged with failure to comply and driving under suspension and was lodged in Logan County Jail.
Officers from the Russells Point Police Department assisted.
