Logan County Jail officials were happy to receive word this month that the 284 S. County Road 32, Bellefontaine, facility passed its 2017 state inspection with flying colors after a site visit conducted during September.

“It’s because of the efforts of all of our staff that made this possible. Our facility is well-maintained every day, so that made it a lot easier on inspection day,” Jail Administrator Lt. Greg Fitzpatrick said Friday.
“Thanks to our sergeants for being so organized, and our supervisors for providing good direction to our staff. All of our staff members have worked hard to maintain this facility.
I’m so proud of them; they’re an impressive group.”
This year’s inspection process also was different than previous years because it involved only one day with an on-site inspector. Many of the policy and procedure requirements now can be filed online.
“It used to be a two-day inspection here at the jail, but now it’s a lot more streamlined with the online filing available,” the jail administrator said. “You can upload all of the materials at your leisure and it’s much more efficient.”
Full-service jails in Ohio must comply with Ohio Revised Code standards, and for the annual inspection, those are divided in two categories — 51 essential standards and 120 important standards.
