Mason R. Fox, 17, of Bellefontaine, was transported by Indian Lake squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for possible injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash Thursday morning.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was a passenger in a northbound sport utility vehicle operated by Jon M. Reaves, 26, of Huntsville, on County Road 270 at U.S. Route 33, just north of Lakeview, about 6 a.m.
Mr. Reaves reportedly drove through the T-intersection and off the road into a ditch, and then the vehicle came to rest in a cornfield. The driver did not report any injuries, and he and his passenger were wearing their seat belts.
Bellefontaine Police Department officers received a report of the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle relating to the SUV that sustained heavy damage in the crash. The vehicle owner said Mr. Reaves did not have permission to use the vehicle, and officers are investigating the case.
Deputies cited Mr. Reaves for a stop sign violation, failure to control and driving under suspension.
• Connor J. Burr, 19, of Urbana, was cited for failure to control following a crash Thursday afternoon on County Road 18 just north of County Road 43.
He reportedly was operating a southbound car on C.R. 18 about 3:10 p.m., went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and went over the center line and then off the left side of the road. Then he reportedly crossed the center line again and finally went off the right side of the road into a ditch before coming to a rest in a bean field.
Damage was heavy to the car, and the driver was wearing his seat belt.
Probation violation served
Deputies served an arrest warrant about 6 p.m. Thursday to Alex Stewart, 34, of 108 Walnut St., Quincy, for a probation violation. Deputies located him in a vehicle at Speedway, 329 S. Main St., Bellefontaine.
