Timothy James “Tim” Ramsey, 57, beloved husband of Tonya L. Martin Ramsey, passed away peacefully at his home on July 17, 2016, as a result of metastatic bone cancer.
He was born on Oct. 21, 1958, son of Barbara B. Magann Ramsey of Mt. Victory and the late James H. “Jim” Ramsey. Tim graduated from Ridgemont High School in 1977 and upon graduation, followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a farmer. He loved farming the land and working hard. He took particular pleasure in working alongside his father, and more recently his son, in the family’s farming operation. Tim was a man of faith and attended the Mt. Victory and Ridgeway United Methodist Churches. He served as a member of the Hale Township Zoning Board Commission and Victory Bancshares Inc. Board of Directors of the Mt. Victory State Bank.
Besides his wife and mother, Tim is survived by three sons, whom he called “my best friends and greatest work,” Travis (Darcy) Ramsey and Troy (Jennifer) Ramsey, both of Mt. Victory, and Tyler (Danielle) Ramsey of Westerville. He was a proud “Papa,” and leaves behind four grandchildren, Lola, Anna, Devan and Kelsey Ramsey, all of Mt. Victory; and one stubborn, yet dearly loved, four-legged canine, Simba, his bulldog. Also surviving are his brother and sister, Dan (Jane) Ramsey of Mt. Victory and Laurie (Brad) Manns of Ridgeway; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Ramsey, and his uncle, Charles E. “Chuck” Ramsey.
Tim enjoyed classic cars and tractors (especially John Deere), all things ‘mechanical,’ and more recently, traveling across America. His love and dedication to his family and farming are a lasting tribute to the strength and character of his heart and soul. His immense presence will be deeply missed by all who have known and loved him.
Calling hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at the Mt. Victory United Methodist Church, Mt. Victory, with a ‘Good Good-bye’ service at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request spending time with loved ones today, or better yet, schedule and take that family trip you’ve been putting off.
