Winning is nothing new for Kris Ackley, who added four titles to his numerous previous accolades Friday during the 2016 Logan County Junior Fair Dairy Show.
KRIS ACKLEY, CHAMPION HOLSTEIN
Judge Jeremy Adams of Urbana tapped the 17-year-old from East Liberty as senior showmanship champion in the opening minutes of the show.
Kris continued his winning streak, showing the champion and junior champion Holsteins, with the latter earning the coveted supreme title.
Winning never gets old, he said, as he “likes showing dairy” over other livestock contests.
Irene Winner of DeGraff took home three awards of her own, earning the junior and senior champion positions in the Brown Swiss division and reserve champion in the Ayrshire group.
Getting her first wins in three years of competition was Mekayla Waugh, 17, of West Mansfield, taking the reserve senior showmanship honor, in addition to showing the reserve champion Holstein.
Other repeat winners included Luke Jackson, 12, of DeGraff, and Peyton Henry, 11, of West Liberty.
Luke garnered the junior showmanship title and showed the junior and senior grand Jerseys, while Peyton was the reserve junior showman and led the reserve junior champion Holstein.
Rounding out the winners was Nicholas Rose, 13, of Huntsville, who got his first win in five years of competing, showing the junior champion Ayrshire.
