THOMAS ALLEN |
West Liberty-Salem used some stellar pitching from Thomas Allen to down visiting Triad 2-0 on Friday in an Ohio Heritage Conference matchup.
The Tigers are now 10-9 overall and 7-6 in the league. The Cardinal slide to 15-6 on the season.
It was a pitcher’s duel between the two local squads as they combined for six hits.
Allen fired a complete game two-hitter for WL-Salem with four strikeouts to earn the win on the mound.
WL-Salem drove in a run in the bottom of the third inning to go ahead 1-0. The Tigers were able to score again in the fifth inning with one run to make it 2-0.
Triad couldn’t get its offense firing in the sixth or seventh innings and that allowed WL-Salem to secure the win.
