Dustin R. Harber, 38, of Kenton, was charged Sunday with menacing and disorderly conduct after an incident involving an off-duty Logan County Sheriff’s Office corrections officer.
The female corrections officer reported about 6:30 p.m., she was in her personal vehicle in the parking lot of Community Markets, 309 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, when Harber, a former Logan County Jail inmate, approached her vehicle.
He reportedly proceeded to prevent her from leaving by leaning into her passenger side window and then began to speak to her in a vulgar manner. The corrections officer said she told Harber repeatedly to get out of her car and leave her alone.
The defendant also reportedly made threatening statements against the correction officer’s family.
The corrections officer said Harber finally leaned out of the passenger side window and she felt comfortable to move her vehicle without striking him. She then reported the incident to her supervisor, the Bellefontaine Police Department and to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were able to locate the defendant at 117 W. Brown Ave., Bellefontaine, and placed him under arrest. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail and also was issued a probation violation.
