Tia Hassell, 28, and Dustin Wells, 30, both of Jackson Center, and Quinten Turner, 30, of East Liberty, each were charged with possession of cocaine related to a traffic stop Friday evening.
Hassell and Wells also were charged with endangering children, as their 5-year-old child was in the vehicle, officers of the Washington Township Police Department report.
Officers on patrol about 9 p.m. noticed a white Cadillac traveling on U.S. Route 33 just east of Lincoln Boulevard with an excessively loud exhaust.
Officers initiated a traffic stop, identifying the driver as Hassell. She gave consent to search the vehicle. A passenger, Turner, also was asked to exit the vehicle.
While talking to Turner, officers located a bag of white crystal substances in Turner’s wallet, which he stated was methamphetamine. Officers also found two bundles of fentanyl in Turner’s pocket. He was placed under arrest and placed in the back of a patrol car.
Another passenger, Wells, was asked to exit the vehicle. Also in the vehicle was the 5-year-old son of Hassell and Wells.
During the vehicle search, officers reportedly found a baggie of cocaine in the center console, along with a black sunglasses case containing two methamphetamine pipes.
Hassell, Wells and Turner were transported to the Logan County Jail. The grandmother of the child came to take the child home.
While in the jail, corrections staff found a baggie of methamphetamine on Turner.
Turner also was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, drug trafficking and illegal conveyance into a detention facility.
