June 24, the Lakeview Business Group hosted a Fourth Thursday Food Truck Rally and Cookie Walk downtown. With the goal of highlighting the village of Lakeview and its shops, the Fourth Thursday events run from 5 to 8 p.m. and always include food trucks, live music and children’s activities. They’re hosted every month between April and October, but each one features a different theme.
According to Brenda Moots, business group president and owner of Indian Lake Outfitters LLC, Thursday nights were chosen for several reasons.
“The point is to not compete with everything else going on.” For instance, she said, they wanted to bring in food trucks on a night when they won’t interfere with the weekend business of local restaurants.
“Plus, visitors coming in might not want to cook,” Moots added. “And it’s just something fun to do before the weekend.”
For this month’s cookie walk theme, each participant was given a passport. As they strolled the downtown area, they would receive a free cookie and a stamp at every business they visited, plus a bonus stamp if they made a purchase. Those who turned in a passport with at least 10 different stamps were entered to win a gift basket.
July’s theme — s’mores — means collecting the ingredients for the summer treat, then having the option of roasting the marshmallows over an open fire.
Other upcoming themes include Back to School on Aug. 25 and Laker Spirit Tailgate night on Sept. 22. Visit the Downtown Lakeview Facebook page for more information.
The June Fourth Thursday event was sponsored by The Passkey Group powered by Fathom Realty. Any organization or business that would like to join the Lakeview Business Group and be a part of events like the Fourth Thursdays is welcome to become a member, regardless of location.
