Catherine F. Kyle, 94, of Xenia, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb, 4, 2016, at Pristine Nursing Center in Xenia. She was born at home in Cedarville Township on Aug. 30, 1921, a daughter of William B. and Bertha Stormont Ferguson.
She attended the Corry Country School and graduated from Cedarville High School in 1938. Following her graduation, she attended Cedarville College. In 1941, she was employed as the deputy recorder for Greene County, and continued working there until she married William H. Kyle on Nov. 29, 1947. He preceded her in death Oct. 17, 2001.
Together with her husband, she worked on their family farm, and as the bookkeeper, kept very detailed records. She was an active member of the Greene County Farm Bureau, the Cedar Cliff PTA and as a Band Parent with her children’s activities. She was a member of the Memorial United Presbyterian Church, where she participated in the Sunday School Class and women’s circles.
She is survived by her children, John Kyle of Xenia and Ann Wildermuth of DeGraff; seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Roger) Schoeni, Stephanie Kyle, Kate Kyle, Matthew (Margaret) Kyle, Brian (Courtney) Wildermuth, Jeffrey (Sarah) Wildermuth and Jill Wildermuth; a great-granddaughter, Claire Wildermuth; a sister-in-law, Virginia Ferguson; a cousin, Claire Harsh; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She also was preceded in death by son-in-law, Dale Wildermuth; sisters, Pauline Shaw, Jean Shaw and Nancy Evans; and a brother, William Ferguson.
A Celebration of Life service begins at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Memorial United Presbyterian Church, 343 W. Ankeney Mill Road, Xenia, with the Rev. Kelley W. Shin officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. She will be interred with her husband in the Woodland Cemetery, Xenia during private graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Kyle’s memory to the Memorial United Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
