Lela M. Wood, 94, of Belle Center, passed away at 10:19 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, in The Homestead at Logan Acres, Bellefontaine.
She was born in Mt. Victory, on June 16, 1926, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Isabel (Gantt) Harder.
In August of 1943, she married Richard “Bus” Wood and he preceded her in death in 1990. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Aldridge, a granddaughter, Traci Diane Wood, three sisters, Mabel Thomas, Eleanor Orth, and Carol Flowers, and a brother, LeRoy Harder.
She is survived by her two sons, Rodney (Paula) Wood and Dennis (Christy) Wood, both of Belle Center, six grandsons, six great grandchildren, a sister, Catherine Orth of Marion, and four brothers, Loren Harder of Marion, Wallace Harder of Mt. Victory, Walter Harder of Kenton, and Doug Harder of Marion and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lela worked as a homemaker and was a member of the Harmony Club in Belle Center. She always had a nice garden and canned many vegetables for her family.
Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 306 N. Elizabeth St., Belle Center. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Belle Center funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview-McDonald Cemetery, Hardin County.
