Crash team investigators concluded that roadway evidence showed the Michael Sadler was operating the eastbound SUV on S.R. 47 between Township Road 230 and County Road 25 when he drove left of center, striking the westbound pickup in the head-on collision.
The pickup was disabled and came to rest at the top of the center lane pavement marking facing south. The Honda SUV came to a rest with only the front right tires on the pavement, facing northbound. Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage.
Both occupants in the SUV were wearing their seat belts. Deputies said neither of the occupants in the pickup were wearing their seat belts. An odor of marijuana was present in the cab of the pickup, deputies reported.
Speed is still unknown, but is not figured to be a factor in the crash. Further investigation is still pending.
