The vehicle then overturned, striking a DP&L telephone pole, and overturned again, fully ejecting the driver from the vehicle, coming to a final rest inside of a fenced pasture.
When units arrived on scene, deputies said Pitzer was unresponsive was lying on his right side on the south side of the roadway in the ditch between the road and a fence row.
Macochee EMS arrived, along with the West Liberty Fire Department, and began life saving measures.
Investigators concluded that Pitzer was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident. Alcohol and drug use is unknown at this time, deputies said.
This is the first fatal crash in Logan County during 2020.
