PLAIN CITY — Jonathan Alder did to Bellefontaine on Tuesday what the Chiefs have often done to the opposition this season.

The Chiefs, whose success this winter has been built on a stingy defense, were bottled up by the physical Pioneers for a 38-35 loss in a non-league boys basketball game.
Bellefontaine is now 12-3 on the season.
The Pioneers, who will join the Chiefs in the Central Buckeye Conference next season, improve to 10-5.
The Chiefs led by nine points (22-13) at halftime, but were held scoreless in the third quarter as the Pioneers battled back to take the lead.
“We didn’t get stops on defense in the third quarter,” said Bellefontaine senior guard Dawsin Tillman. “We gave up some baskets in transition and we also didn’t rebound very well. They limited us to one shot on pretty much every possession in the third quarter.”
