Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a three-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon that sent two drivers and a passenger to area hospitals for treatment of injuries.
Driver Hunter L. Hein, 20, of Marion, was transported by BMRT EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of possible injuries.
Driver Doris M. Rench, 73, and her passenger, Paul M. Rench, 75, both of Lakeview, each were transported by Indian Lake EMS and Huntsville EMS to Lima Memorial Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.
Deputies said Hein was operating a westbound 2018 Ford Focus on Township Road 100 about 2:55 p.m. and stopped at the stop sign for State Route 117. He reportedly pulled into the intersection and was struck by a southbound 2012 Ford Escape on S.R. 117 operated by Rench.
The Rench vehicle then struck the front of an eastbound 2020 GMC Sierra stopped at the intersection, operated by Kenneth J. Klass, 76, of Glandorf.
Klass did not report any injuries. Hein was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign.
Damage was heavy to the first two vehicles, which were towed from the scene. Damage was light to the Klass vehicle.
A Center Point Energy utility pole also was struck during the crash and the company was contacted by deputies.
• Liberty R. Lowe, 18, of Kenton, was transported by Bellefontaine EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning.
Deputies report Lowe was operating a northbound vehicle on U.S. Route 68 at Township Road 219 about 11:30 a.m. and struck the rear of a northbound 2010 Honda Civic that had stopped in traffic, operated by Raegan M. Hites, 15, of Belle Center.
The impact sent the Hites vehicle into a northbound Honda HR-V operated by Penny A. Horn, 56, of Belle Center. No other injuries were reported.
Lowe was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
Raegan also was accompanied in the vehicle was a 57-year-old passenger. All of the occupants were wearing their seat belts.
