The local boys basketball teams saw three players received all- Southwest District honors in Tuesday’s release of the squads.
The teams are voted on by a panel of media members who cover the Southwest District.
West Liberty-Salem’s Holden Nease was a second-team pick in Division III, while Indian Lake’s Austin Parker was selected to the honorable mention list.
Riverside’s John Zumberger earned a spot on the honorable mention team in Division IV.
Nease, a senior guard, helped spark the Tigers to an outright Ohio Heritage Conference North division championship and a spot in the Division III sectional championship.
He averaged 15.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Nease scored in double figures in all but three games for the Tigers this season. He had a season-high of 29 in a win over Fairlawn.
Parker, a senior guard, capped a stellar career for Indian Lake by eclipsing the 1,000-point mark this season. Named the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division player of the year, he led the CBC in scoring with 20.7 points per game. He also averaged 7.6 rebounds per contest.
Parker scored in double figures in every game but two for the Lakers this winter. He hit 20 points or more in 13 games. He had a season- high of 39 against Benjamin Logan and scored 31 in a win over Urbana.
Zumberger, a junior guard, earned second-team Northwest Central Conference honors. He led the Pirates in scoring at 16.4 points per game. He also notched 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest. He shot 79 percent from the free-throw line.
