Only one new candidate has filed to run in the primaries for the two Logan County Commissioners’ seats that will be up for election this year.
Dan Defibaugh, 55, a retired Benjamin Logan Schools buildings and grounds superintendent who ran for commissioner in 2016, filed a petition prior to the Wednesday filing deadline to run for the seat being vacated by Dustin Wickersham, Logan County Election Board personnel report.
If their petitions are certified by the elections board, he and Logan County Chamber of Commerce President Paul Benedetti, 66, will appear on the May 8 Republican primary ballot. The winner will face Democrat Teresa Johnston, 58, mayor of Belle Center, in November if her petition is validated.
Joe Antram, 62, who was appointed by the Logan County Republican Party in November to fill a commissioner seat vacated by Tony Core, will run unopposed in both the primary and general election, if no independent candidates file by a May 7 deadline.
Similarly, Jack Reser, 57, is running unopposed for the Logan County Auditor’s Office, from which Michael E. Yoder intends to retire at the end of the term.
