Tamiflu, flu shots encouraged to fight nasty strain of virus
Like many areas around the state and country, Logan County has been hit hard by the influenza epidemic this season, and the spread of the illness does not show any signs of waning soon, County Health Commissioner Dr. Boyd Hoddinott said Wednesday during the Logan County District Board of Health meeting.
“This Monday morning at my office, we had 10 influenza cases during our walk-in hours,” he said of his private practice, Maple Leaf Family and Sports Medicine, 2211 Timber Trail, Bellefontaine.
“While Feb. 19 is usually the peak of flu season, we’ve been seeing this illness since the end of December and it’s been at epidemic levels throughout January and now into February. We don’t expect it’s going to get better anytime soon.”
