First responders work on the scene of an injury crash about 8:40 p.m. Monday at the intersection of county roads 1 and 29. Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Armando A. Cardone, 20, of Plain City, was transported by CareFlight helicopter to the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries sustained in the crash. He reportedly was a passenger in a westbound jeep operated by Kelsey Massie, 22, of East Liberty, on County Road 29 that failed to yield from the stop sign and struck a southbound minivan operated by David A. VanDyke, 59, of Zanesfield, that was attempting to turn eastbound onto C.R. 29. Massie also was transported by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries. She was cited for a stop sign violation. VanDyke and his passenger, Paula E. VanDyke, 51, of Zanesfield, each was checked at the scene by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS personnel, but neither was transported from the scene. Massie and Cardone were not wearing seat belts, while the other vehicle occupants were wearing their seat belts, according to the crash report. Damage was heavy to the jeep and the minivan.
