It is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain Zanesfield’s infra- structure and the community needs to decide whether or not to main- tain its status as a village, current Mayor Justin “Bo” Johns believes.
“We’re not at risk of fiscal emergency tomorrow or even next year,” he said. “But in a couple years we may not be able to pay the bills.
“I don’t want that to happen and I don’t think the community wants that to happen.
“We’ve survived for a long time with almost nothing, but we’re at the point where nothing isn’t going to cut it anymore.”
He broached the subject a week ago in the hopes of starting open discussion among the village’s 200-some residents.
