Zanesfield Petanque Club members Mohamed Boulahoual and Shannon Hodge recently won the Carolina Petanque BBQ festival tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
The tournament was played in Lexington, N.C. It included 29 doubles teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, New York, Washington D.C., Ohio and Florida. Boulahoual and Hodge went 2-1 in the morning qualifying session.
The duo lost 11-13, but came back to win 13-3 and 13-6.
That ranked the pair 10th with the top 16 moving on. Boulahoual and Hodge won 13-5 and 13-0 to reach the semifinals, which they won 13-3. The local duo took the championship match 13-8 over a team from Washington, D.C.
