A group of four members of the Breeches & Wranglers 4-H Club on Sunday morning performed what horse show organizers believe is the Logan County Fair’s first youth drill team performance.

While some area county fairs have youth drill team contests, the coordinated performances have never been a tradition locally, Linda Hauck, Breeches & Wranglers adviser said.
In addition to their regular preparation for the fair, the youths who are involved in therapeutic riding programs, also had to commit to an additional hour per week preparing for the routine through May and early June and two hours per week the past three weeks, the adviser said.
While numerous members of the club expressed an interest in performing, the four members who could make that commitment were Austin Reimer, 15; Kelly Clark, 15; Reece Schmidt, 17; and Alexis Gibson, 18.
“I was so proud of them, I was crying, my daughter was crying,” Hauck said after the performance. “They’ve had to work really hard to do what they did today.”
