PAT O’DONNELL |
Patrick O’Donnell, the superintendent accused of a sex crime involving a juvenile, has appealed his firing by the Indian Lake School District.
The school board voted June 29 to place O’Donnell on unpaid leave pending an action to terminate and O’Donell had 10 days to appeal the decision.
The board has tentatively set a public hearing on the issue for 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4. This date, however, has not been confirmed by the Ohio Department of Education, which must provide a referee for the hearing, according to a statement from the school district.
O’Donnell, 52, faces four counts of rape and other felony charges relating to alleged sexual conduct with a girl under the age of 13 over a three-year period.
O’Donnell’s wife, Heather O’Donnell, 46, the superintendent of the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center, was indicted last week for felony child endangering charges for allegedly failing to report sexual abuse after the girl reportedly told her of the abuse.
Both are out on bond awaiting further court proceedings.
