Heather R. Tobias, 43, of 415 Maple St., Russells Point, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a traffic stop Sunday morning.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 6:10 a.m. to the area of U.S. Route 33 and State Route 292 in reference to a wrong-way driver traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of U.S. 33.
Deputies said the vehicle was stopped in the area of U.S. 33 and State Route 347. Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies observed the odor of alcohol and asked the driver how much she had to drink. Tobias initially stated she had consumed two beers, but later said she consumed four beers.
Signs of intoxication were observed from the driver and she submitted to field sobriety tests. At the Logan County Jail, she submitted to a breath test, with a result of 0.139 blood alcohol content. She was released to a sober driver and also was cited for driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
Felony domestic violence charge issued
LeAnn M. Brust, 46, of 7358 E. State Route 47, Bellefontaine, was charged with a felony count of domestic violence related to an incident at her residence early Friday morning.
Deputies responded to her address about 12:10 a.m. on a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance.The male resident reported to deputies that he and his live-in girlfriend, Brust, had been drinking together at a bar that evening and when they got home, she reportedly began throwing items, hitting him and knocking down the Christmas tree.
Brust also reportedly bit her boyfriend’s leg, and he showed deputies a large bite mark on his leg that had bruising and dried blood, deputies said.
While speaking with the defendant, she denied biting his leg and said he punched her in the eye two days ago. Deputies did not see any physical evidence to support her statement. She was placed under arrest and was transported to the jail. She was issued the felony charge because of a prior domestic violence conviction.
Passenger transported from crash
Julie L. Asbury, 52, of Sidney, was transported by Indian Lake EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in a crash New Year’s Eve.
She was a passenger in an eastbound 2020 Kia Sorento operated by Michael A. Sullenberger, 48, of Sidney on State Route 47 about 7:35 p.m. A northbound 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt operated by Weston Griffith, 20, of Marysville, reportedly pulled from a stop sign on County Road 24 into the intersection and struck the passenger side of the Sorento.
All occupants were wearing their seat belts.Griffith was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign. Damage was heavy to both vehicles. Riverside EMS also responded to the scene.
