Taylor Woodruff Barnett, 22, of Kenton, was charged with one count of theft related to an incident Tuesday evening at the Dollar General, 147 E. Main St., Russells Point.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department were dispatched about 8 p.m. to the store on a report of a theft. They were informed that the suspect vehicle, a black Mercedez sedan, fled westbound on Main Street.
Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop as it turned onto Paradise Island.
While speaking with Barnett during the stop, she admitted to stealing napkins from the store. Officers searched the vehicle and located other stolen items, including several solar lights, scouring pads, and air freshener in the vehicle.
The defendant told officers she stole these items from Family Dollar in Kenton, but further investigation revealed the items were taken from the local Dollar General store. Officers obtained video footage of Barnett placing items inside her purse from Dollar General.
In addition, officers said the defendant had several capsules of an unknown substance and a digital scale with suspected cocaine residue inside her purse. The suspected narcotics were sent to the lab for identification.
She was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail. Further charges are pending, awaiting results from the lab.
