A Bellefontaine City School bus driver faces a felony theft charge for allegedly taking more than $15,000 from her secondary employer.
Joyce C. Fogan, 38, of 4834 County Road 55, was served Monday with a warrant after officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department reviewed reports from AVI Foodsystems Inc., a food vending company.
According to police reports, Fogan was responsible for vending operations at AGC Automotive Americas, 1465 W. Sandusky Ave., from March through May 16.
Company loss prevention specialists noted significant inventory issues with the AGC account and confronted Fogan. She reportedly admitted to taking $150 a day from the six vending machines at AGC.
AVI’s reports indicate she took $14,599 in March and April and another $1,297 during May before she was confronted about the missing money and fired.
Bellefontaine Superintendent Brad Hall said Fogan may face employment action prior to resuming bus driving duties Aug. 15.
“Mrs. Fogan is not currently performing any paid functions for the district,” Hall said. “And, she is not scheduled to perform any such functions until Aug. 15. Between now and Aug. 15, the district will work with law enforcement and conduct its own investigation into the allegations against Mrs. Fogan.
“The district will take appropriate employment actions based on the results of those investigations.”
