TACKETT |
Marcia Tackett, 42, of Warren, Mich., was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, persistent disorderly conduct and resisting arrest following a traffic stop early Saturday morning.
An officer of the Russells Point Police Department who was on patrol shortly after 2 a.m. in the 400 block of east Main Street observed a traffic violation and followed the vehicle toward the Village Pantry, 209 State Route 708, where he activated his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop.
The driver, identified as Ms. Tackett, exited her vehicle as if she were unaware of the officer’s presence. The officer approached the vehicle and immediately detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Ms. Tackett.
After a brief discussion, Ms. Tackett was offered the opportunity to take field sobriety tests, and she agreed. However, when the officer returned to his patrol car to reposition it, the defendant again exited her vehicle, walked past the officer, and tried to dart inside the Village Pantry.
The officer followed her and repeatedly told her to stop, but she ignored him and continued toward the restroom, where she tried to shut the door on the officer.
Ms. Tackett was then told she was under arrest, yet she continued to resist, and refused to comply with officers’ requests.
Eventually, the defendant was taken into custody, and transported to the Logan County Jail without incident, where she asked to submit to a breath test. She refused the breath test and continually refused to cooperate with officers.
