Wanda M. Cannode, 28, of 101 N. Main St., Ridgeway, was charged with possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence related to a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol about 1:20 p.m. in the 5500 block of U.S. Route 68 observed a vehicle being operating by a suspended driver, Brady Higgins, 22, of Kenton, and initiated the stop.
Deputies said the passenger, Cannode, had an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Hardin County.
After Higgins and Cannode were asked to step outside of the vehicle, K9 Thor was deployed on the vehicle and the canine alerted on the vehicle. Deputies conducted a probable cause search and did not find any illegal items in the vehicle.
Cannode denied having any illegal items on her person, and was placed under arrest on the warrant and transported to the Logan County Jail. However, upon arrival at the jail, she was removed from the back of the patrol vehicle, and deputies observed two baggies and a white powdery substance on the back seat. The substance reportedly field-tested positive for cocaine.
Higgins was cited for driving under non-compliance suspension, driving under license forfeiture suspension and no seat belt, and was released.
