Kelly Gibbs, 50, of 13808 W. U.S. Route 33, Lakeview, was charged with assault and disorderly conduct related to an incident Tuesday morning at her address.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence about 10:40 a.m. on a report from Gibbs that individuals were attempting to break into the house and were threatening her.
When they arrived, they found that Gibbs was inside the house yelling, and fellow residents of the home, Gibbs’ boyfriend, Jerry Curtis, 62, and his daughter, Brittany Curtis, 30, were standing outside. Deputies noted that Mr. Curtis is the owner of the property, and Gibbs had been residing with him recently.
Mr. Curtis advised that he’d had issues with Gibbs being out of control lately. He said that day, she’d asked him for money, and then slapped the money out of his hand and allegedly pushed him in the back when he reached down to pick up the money.
A physical confrontation then reportedly occurred between Gibbs and Ms. Curtis, with Gibbs allegedly throwing punches at Ms. Curtis.
Ms. Curtis said she was able to take Gibbs to the ground when this occurred. Deputies noted that Ms. Curtis did not have any visible injuries, but her clothing was disheveled.
Gibbs reportedly had red marks and scratches on her face and chest area, and was treated at the scene by Lakeview EMS personnel.
Others at the residence also concurred that Gibbs was the primary aggressor in the confrontation.
She was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
While arriving at the jail, deputies report the defendant began acting like she was having a seizure. She was treated by medical staff at the jail, who confirmed she was not having a seizure.
A report also has been sent to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office regarding a review of possible charges for Ms. Curtis related to the injuries to Gibbs.
